With the aim of becoming a “leading company for energy and environment,” SANYO, together with JTB Western Japan, decided to take part in the Eco Island Miyakojima Project in support of its concept to focus efforts on environmental protection activities that incorporate children’s environmental education and tourism. Our part was to provide environment classes for elementary school children and this was the first time that SANYO has provided its environment classes in Okinawa.
SANYO has been providing environment classes not only in Japan but all over the world using our “eneloop” rechargeable batteries as teaching materials. The class contents were developed by SANYO employees themselves and about 20,000 children at 116 schools around the globe have experienced our classes. Through the Eco Island Miyakojima Project, we showed the children the importance of carrying out the “3R” activities in our daily life, and communicated the importance of life and the Earth through experiments using rechargeable batteries that contribute to the realization of a recycling society.
In this “SANYO SUPER LIVE CHANNEL Report from Japan,” we will introduce how children enjoyed our classes, along with the beautiful nature of Miyakojima that we adults have responsibility to hand down to the future generations. |
